How do you allocate permanent (Elastic) IP addresses to Amazon Ec2 accounts and the associate them with instances?

Remember you need to have the latest upgraded tools:

WSDL and API version: 2008-02-01 or later

API Tools: 1.3-19403 2008-02-01

How do you find out what the PTR record is to your IP address?

In any Unix/Linux bash terminal type:

dig -x 64.226.42.29

Obviously instead of the number after dig -x you put your own IP. Remember PTR records are for IP addresses not domain names.
